Sweetheart Brunch

There are book signing opportunities here.  If you would like more information contact: rj@rjphillips.com before February 1st.

Mardi Gras

The theme for this month’s illustration is: MARDI GRAS   whatever that may bring to mind…

  • festivals!
  • celebrations!
  • street fairs!
  • New Orleans!
  • fun!!
  • …whatever!!!!

…bring it with you to the critique group or scan it onto your blog and post a link here so we can all see it…and then make comments on one another’s artwork.

The Critique Group this month will meet on Tuesday February 5th from 7pm to 9pm at the Barnes and Noble (under the Homestead Gray’s Bridge, formerly the HighLevel Bridge) at the Waterfront in Homestead. The group usually meets the first Tuesday of every month at this Barnes and Noble.

John Manders has a class that starts January 15th on Children’s Book Illustration at the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts on Shady and 5th….it’s obviously a little late to sign up for this one, but keep checking this site for the next class…I’m sure that it’s great!   www.pittsburgharts.org

If you would like to have some of your illustrations considered for being published in the Golden Penn, please email ChrisAnn. ChrisAnnkg@verizon.net

First of all, thanks for all who wrote comments about John’s article (see “Welcome”). I just wanted you to know that the comments need to be filtered, which is why it takes so long for them to appear sometimes…(I’m not sure how to turn that filter off…or even if I should?)But I think that everyone who has written will be allowed directly in the next time they wish to write…let me know if there are any problems. sorry for any inconvenience.

Our next meeting at the Barnes and Noble (Waterfront) will NOT be the first Tuesday (which is New Years Day) but the second Tuesday of January…January 8th!

… at the last meeting it was suggested that we have a theme for the upcoming critique session…and we’d  draw, paint, sketch or sculpt etc  according to that theme and bring that artwork with us to the meeting.

The theme will be: “New Year”

Baby New Year? or Confetti? or Party Hats? or New Year Resolutions? …the list can go on and on. It’s all just for fun so…enjoy!

I hope to see all of you there…have a great holiday season. -Rose

PS: if you’d like to participate and cannot make it to the meeting…maybe you can add your blog’s link in the comment section here…and we can view your artwork on your blog???

Tuesday December 4th

7pm to 9pm at the Barnes and Noble

at the Waterfront in Homestead.

Critique Group Meeting.

…besides bringing your portfolio or artwork piece that you’re working on…We should all bring the Christmas/Holiday cards that (I’m sure) we’re all working on…and get some comments on the designs. Maybe we’ll order a cup of hot chocolate and pretend (if it’s not) that it’s snowing outside.

It should be a fun time. Please come.

RSVP so we can set another chair out!

PS: check out the comments on the last post…there are some interesting thoughts there.

Saturday November 17th is the Western Pennsylvania Society of Childrens’ Book Writers and Illustrators Annual conference at the Greentree Radisson.

See www.WPaSCBWI.com for more details.

Welcome!

Illustrator’s Critique Group meets at the Barnes and Noble at the Waterfront in Homestead from 7pm to 9pm every first Tuesday of the month.
